Our Journey
“Amago,” derived from the Iberian term for “Core” or “Essence,” embodies our dedication to capturing the true essence of sound. Founded by a team of experienced audio and electronics engineers, Amago Audio was born from a shared passion for detail and a vision to disrupt the stagnant microphone industry.
Supported by one of Europe’s leading innovation hubs, The Creative Science Park in Aveiro, we embarked on a four-year journey of intensive research, development, and testing, creating our electro-acoustic designs from the ground up.
Based in the picturesque Aveiro district, known as the “Portuguese Venice,” our company draws inspiration from the Iberian region’s rich cultural heritage and inventive spirit. We craft our high-quality components in Portugal and Spain, combining traditional techniques with state-of-the-art technology. This approach allows us to set new industry benchmarks and deliver superior products that offer exceptional performance and value, challenging old pricing models.

Many traditional models suffer from slow impulse response, off-axis coloration, phase distortion, handling noise, and uncontrolled proximity effect, often resulting in sounds that are either overly dark and muddy or excessively bright and harsh.
At Amago Audio, we’ve engineered our microphones to overcome these challenges by extending bandwidth, eliminating unwanted frequency peaks that cause feedback, tightening polar patterns, and avoiding reflections and phase cancellations. Beyond that, we’ve carefully designed our microphones with a controlled proximity effect, ensuring a clear and balanced bass response even at very close distances. This allows for the most natural and uncolored sound that integrates seamlessly into any mix.
